Our Baby Room can accommodate up to 18 children aged from 3 months to 2 years old. This cosy room lends itself to a homely environment helping to achieve a smooth transition into nursery life.
Routines are extremely important and during your pre-arranged settling in periods your allocated key worker will ensure that all your child’s needs are catered for. The key worker will take charge of completing daily routines for your child and monitoring their development through reports and records. Staff will, at the end of each day; provide you with both a verbal and written account of your child’s day.
Our Baby Room development strategies concentrate on learning through play, including using messy activities such as sand and water, jelly, custard & beans through to ribbons, scarves & feathers. Staff plan appropriate activities for this age range and work with the Early years foundation stage profile on a daily basis as they are encouraged to begin verbal and non-verbal communication with both their peers and carers focusing on repetition and imitation.
The children enjoy outdoor play sessions each day. During these they make full use of the apparatus, including sandpit, mud kitchens, ride along toys, bats & balls as they learn how to co-ordinate their movements.
From the EYFS children in this room are encouraged to begin communicating both verbally and non-verbally they are also beginning to build up relationships with their peers. They will start to play games alongside each other, begin to show more independence throughout their own daily routine. Children are encouraged a lot at mealtimes to feed themselves they will begin to manage their personal hygiene as they assist carers with face and hand cleaning.
